Note:
In the Arabic world, there is a surname Zeidat. Obviously, there is mere coincidence. This is a form of the name "Ziyadat" in classical (Arabian) Arabic and means "surplus" or "superabundance." In Lebanon, Syria and elsewhere it is pronounced and written as "Zeidat." It's a woman's first name, but it is occasionally used as a surname, although it's not extremely common even in the Arab world. The masculine forms are "Zayd" and "Ziyada,“ but a form "Ziyadatulla" ("abundance from God") is also in use. Most people with the surname Zeidat in the U.S.A. are of Arabic origin. My great grandmother Ursule Zeidat was born in Buivydai, Seredzius, Kaunas, Lithuania on February 06, 1888 to parents Eduard Zeidat and Katerina Calkaite. Eduard Zeidat came to Lithuania from somewhere in northeastern East Prussia (Ostpreussen, Germany) and married Katerina Calkaite on May 10, 1887 in Raudondvaris church. Eduard Zeidat is listed as age 27 and the son of Kaunas town burghers Francis Zeidat and Anna Koegel from Eiguliai village in the Kaunas parish of Lithuania. Katerina did not speak German and her husband did not speak Lithuanian. Thus, they spoke to one another in Polish, a language they both knew. I assume the Eduard Zeidat and his parents moved together to Lithuania from East Prussia. There are no earlier documents in Lithuania for this Zeidat family and no way of locating their origin in East Prussia.

My relatives here in the U.S. used the surname Zeidat. Most of this family, if not all, has died out here in the U.S. My relatives in Lithuania now use Zeidotas, a Lithuanianized version of the surname.

Edilke had a son christened on the 16 Sep 1765 and gave the son the name of Juergis. This is found on page 00081 at the end of the film.

I have searched the films # 1813519 & 1813520 for the years 1858-1862 in Budwethen,
Kreis Ragnit, Ostpreussen. The first film were the left sides, the second one
included the right sides of the church book. The left sides were filmed in a very
readable way, while the right sides were very dark and a several pages are not
readable. Nevertheless, I believe that I could read enough to make sure that i did
not miss an entry with the ancestral surname or a variation spelling thereof.

FHL film # 1813519 had on page 26 the following information:

On the 1 Apr 1859 was born in Klein Buskeppeln and christened in Budwethen a child

of Ansas SEDATIS and Anke BUDATE. The name of the child was Jons (probably short for

Johannes).

1. The name of the submitter of the IGI entries

can't be found because as of 1991 the addresses and

names of submitters are not listed anymore in the system.
It is to protect the privacy of the individual.

That is "stupid", as far as I am concerned, but because

of previous problems, the decision was made.
No no one can be traced back who submitted work
from 1991 to 1999.

2. You know that I did search the Budwethen films,

but found no evidence of your family.

3. I have checked the records for Gross Warningken

Kreis Pillkallen, but the available records only

start in the year 1893, to late for your research.

3. I checked the records for Darkehmen, also called

Angerapp, now Ozersk, Kaliningrad.

FHL film # 0490388 has an index for Taufen (Land

which is subburbs) Not one ZEIDAT/SEIDAT entry, or any

similar spelling was found.

FHL film # 0490389 lists baptism for the city of

Darkehmen as well as the Land Darkemen. No indexes.

I checked entry by entry for the years 1858-1861,
not one entry was found.

Both FHL film # 73008 and # 73009 were checked. The

indexes were not really usable, they did not correspond

with the entries, but the ancestral surname was found

Johann Heinrich, the son of Heinrich ZIDAT, a farmer and wife Maria SEIDLER.

Witnesses are Friedrich and Heinrich SEIDLER and Elisabeth WOWEREIT.
